Recognize your Past Self, But Look to Your Future Self

Dr. Beth Brady • April 15, 2022

Challenges can make us very anxious.

The emotion of fear of failure can be daunting, and keep us in a place where we procrastinate taking the actions that will move us forward. One of the strongest pieces of evidence we use, is our past history of failure.

“I have lost weight before and never managed to keep it off”. If you use this past history to determine your future success, you are doomed to repeat.

What if your future self has lost the weight, maintained that weight loss, and moved on to have the most amazing and happy life? If that sounds impossible, believe me, it is not. I have done exactly that. You can do that, too. The weight loss is the easy part – you have done that before. Committing to an eating plan that will allow you to attain a normal body weight is completely possible. The key to success is to believe that you are worthy - you deserve to be happy, healthy, and even rich! We will talk about success in a later post.

It deserves it’s own topic, because many of us have baggage around our concepts of money. Back to believing and committing to your future self. Spend time imaging what she feels like. Think about how she feels as a normal weight, attractive, confident, happy, successful you. Feel it, revel in it, believe it. Your future self can even give your present self some tips on how you are SO worth the time, effort and self-love you deserve – and those feelings are critical to your success and happiness.

If this seems like a stretch to you – you are precisely the person I can guide to successful weight loss and amazing happiness!
