Belief is NOT Fact

March 1, 2022

Why does it matter that what you believe is not a true, indisputable fact?

How can a belief keep you from achieving the results you want in your life?

Beliefs limit us from achieving. How so? A belief is a thought we think over and over so many times, it feels like a fact. We can control our thoughts to get the results we desire.

If we operate from the premise that what we firmly believe is a fact, we limit our ability to change that thought/belief, and making changes that give us the best possible result in our lives.

Let’s look at the Model:

Belief (your recurring thought): It is not possible to lose weight after menopause.

How many times have you thought that? I was certain this was true – I completely believed/thought that was true – until I didn’t anymore and I lost 65 pounds at age 65. I now weight 138 pounds and have the most amazing life ever! The indisputable fact was that I weighed over 200 pounds at 5’4”.

C Circumstances are facts and are indisputable

T — Thoughts are a result of how an individual interprets each fact or circumstance.

F — Thoughts generate a feeling – positive or negative

A — Actions (or lack of actions) are generated by feelings

R — Actions determine results (positive or negative)

C (Circumstance/fact): Scale says 200 pounds; age = 64

T (Thought): It is not possible to lose 65 pounds as a post menopausal woman

F (Feeling): Resigned

A (Actions or inactions): Don’t even make a plan for eating; continue to use food as a means of feeling ‘better’; hate yourself

R (Result): Continue to weight 200 pounds

Now, let’s try an Intentional Model:

C: Scale says 200 pounds; age = 64; height 5’4”

T: I will weigh 138 pounds

F: Determined/Committed

A: Develop a formal eating plan for me; journal my thoughts; plan my food 24 hours in advance; do the thought work necessary to realize that I am worthy of this work; be curious about slips; keep going

R: I weigh 138 pounds

You cannot imagine the number of people who have completely changed their lives by utilizing the Model. You can be one of them! Let’s work together to make your life amazing!

I have lost weight at least a dozen times – Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Medifast, Ideal Protein, liquid diet, Atkins, South Beach, keto – you name it, I have done it. All of these diets shared one thing in common – as soon as I stopped the program, the weight I had lost came right back, and then some.
